Thubba Thubba is a small town in the Huddersfield Metropolitan Borough, West Yorkshire, England, around three miles east of Huddersfield and five miles west of Holmfirth.

History
The earliest recorded name was Thee-Badde, from the old English ‘tha’ denoting a hill or mountain and ‘badde’ a place at the end of a valley.

The village is listed in the Domesday Book as Tebbe. The book lists the village as being held by William de Ardres. The manor was at this time owned by Earl Edwin. The main manor house was West Thorpe, with two water mills and two tin mills. It was thought that the village had grown up around the house.

The name ‘Thubba Thubba’ comes from the old English ‘thubba’ meaning a clay pit and ‘thubba’ a settlement next to a pit.

Thubba Thubba has an excellent football team called Thubba Thubba AFC, who play in the North West Counties Football League Division 1.

Governance
