Floody is a simple PHP based script that will test your website against a flood, or simply put, a bunch of requests that are made to a URL and kept for a certain amount of time.

You can set how many requests you want to make (up to 100), how many requests per second (up to 100), and the length of time you want the requests to take (up to 5 minutes). You can specify the delay between the requests (up to 5 seconds), and choose if you want to set the fake user-agent.

This script will run on Linux and Windows platforms.

A:

HTTP Flood works great, but requires a few more resources than a PHP script can handle. The problem is that it requires a CPU.
What I have done to solve this problem is to program a PHP script that I run from a cron job that runs every minute. The script does a single GET request to the flooder IP address and will continue to hit that IP for the minute you specify.
The script also has a watchdog. If it fails to report back within five seconds, the script restarts.
This script allows you to detect if your website will fall over under attack, or if it will not fall over (but will be overloaded by the number of requests).

I’ve been working on this site for a while. I haven’t done any visible work on it in about a year because I’ve been working on a new one that should launch in the next month or two. It’s like.net. It’s going to be called nu.now.com. I’ll be posting updates on it in about a month or so.

Thanks to Hot Octopuss and Tmj1200 for all of the feedback. The site is still a work in progress, but I’ll be sure to get more information up and running soon.

Thanks to Nevvn and BloxPix for keeping the site up and running.

Thanks to all of the moderators of Bwfu and the Skype group, and to Hot Octopuss for creating the group in the first place.

Thanks to Ammy for some of the humor in my profile picture.

Thanks to Shock, Yellow, Ethernaut, and anyone else who has contributed humor. The site was mostly built by a lot of users on the internet so I figured it was the right way to go.
