CSS Image Embedder is a small application that can be used to embed images into your CSS files, which you can then include in a web page. The following tags can be included in an inline css style, and can be included in a css style file.

The program will first scan for inline CSS styles that contain image references, and will attempt to replace the images with a data URI encoded image.
The only file that needs to be included is the CSS file that contains the inline style.

Renault Sport Formula 1 team chief Cyril Abiteboul says it would be a “waste” to return to power unit development once the 2021 regulations are out of the way.

The French manufacturer missed the top flight of F1 in 2016, and the introduction of cost-effective ‘hypercar’ regulations in 2021, with Renault having only one year to ramp up from the mid-rear-engined STR4.

A number of top F1 engineers left the Renault team in 2017, and it was hit by further redundancies in 2018, before the Scoteries hypercar project.

Speaking to Autosport, Abiteboul made it clear that no one had returned to power unit development at Renault, despite having the factory and resources for the task.

“The engine situation at Renault was made clear last year – there are no people returning to the engine side,” said Abiteboul.

“There is no power unit team in the Renault Group, no power unit team in the Renault Sport Team – there is none.

“I’m not saying it would be a waste – and I’m not saying that the engine situation has been brought to our attention, but if you’re asking if we would be better to have a power unit team in place to prepare to 2021, the answer is ‘no’.”

Abiteboul stressed that his comments did not come as a criticism of the teams building road-relevant power units, and he said that Renault had not asked them to do so.

He explained

What’s New In?

It is a Winforms application developed using Visual Studio 2010, which scans a CSS file for references to images and other files. When it encounters a reference to an image it encodes that image using the Data URI scheme, replaces the reference with the encoded string and compiles the CSS. This is done so that you can use your CSS file as a source of images, which will be embedded into the CSS file itself. The program will work on CSS files without embedded images as well, but it will not do any encoding of the CSS.

What’s New in Version 1.0

Version 1.0 is now in the public domain, all restrictions previously in place have been lifted.

How it Works

The program will scan a given CSS file for reference to any image, css style sheet, etc. It will then replace the reference in the file with the Data URI scheme for that image, and when the file is saved and compiled, the embedded image will be added to the outputted CSS.

The process of encoding a given image and replacing the file reference is performed in a separate thread from the UI thread, this means that the user interface will remain responsive to user interaction while the encoding is performed.

Usage

Download the current version of the program and install it in your system. Start the program and select the CSS file you want to work with.

The application will scan the file for references to images, stylesheets, and other resources. You will then be able to select an image or style sheet to encode.

Once you have selected an image to encode, you will be asked to supply information about the image:

FileName: The name of the image you want to encode.

MimeType: The type of the image data in the file. In most cases this will be ‘image/jpeg’, but for a variety of reasons some images may not have a correct mime type. For these, you will be prompted for a value.

Size: The size of the image, as retrieved from the file. In most cases this will be the file size of the image.

The size of the image is a critical piece of information, if the file size of the image is significantly different from the size of the image embedded, the image will be distorted. You may also be prompted for this information if the image size is not defined in the file.

Once you have completed the information you will be provided with a new selection dialog where you can optionally choose an output directory for the encoded data. Once you have made your selection, click encode and the image will be encoded and the output path will be provided.

If you choose to encode a style sheet, you will be asked for the same information as you were for an image. Once the CSS file is successfully encoded, you will then be asked to save the file.
